…. off to the beach

Hiya – Yesterday we took Chris out to Murawai Beach – it was raining as we left town all bundled up in the station wagon. A friend was over from the States and as we talked the conversation veered from record production to discussing a voluntary euthanasia society in the US she works with called “Compassion & Choices” (Google will get you there until I can work out a link) who sound like they’re doing  brilliant work. Chris, like myself, has strong views on the right to die with dignity (not that we’re thinking anything like that at the moment of course!)

When we got to the beach it was a beautful, if blustery, afternoon – the only downside being that some fool (namely me) had forgotten Chris’ jacket so he got kinda chilly as we went up to the ganet colony – sorry Chris. We enjoyed a good falafel on the way home.

Chris’ evenings still consist of a vegetarian meal followed by thrashing us at poker – it has become our routine (has it really only been three weeks since the stroke??) and so we are planning more trips to give more variation.

See ya.

Sounds like a wonderful outing. That ganet colony is fascinating, but I remember getting very chilly myself when I visited. Glad to hear your news so regularly, keeping you in my prayers and thoughts.

    Come on Chris!

I watched a show on the sardine run along the coast of South Africa on the box last night. Those gannets fed themselves stupid. Seeing as Chris once wrote a song about being a snail I would suggest a song about being a gannet would not go astray.

    Get well soon Chris.

I’m really glad for these posts. Thanks for sharing with us all.

By the way,are there(or will there be) any clues or info about who will be on the Knox Tribute CD? Also,I have a few concert recordings I can re-mail to you,…and I thought “wouldn’t it be a good time to compile a Chris Knox Live CD” for the cause too?

Just let me know if you need any CD-Rs from me in da USA. Thanks,…and sending good thoughts and wishes your way too!

    Hi all,
I just discovered this blog, after hearing about Chris’s stroke from an ex-Timaruvian in Paris a couple of weeks ago. You see how word gets round. My good wishes are with you, though I haven’t seen any of you for many years, fond thoughts and thanks for hospitality last for ever. It was due to Chris really that my elder daughter was called Janet, and she’s all grown up now. Cheers, Carol in Glasgow

    Hello Chris,
I have just learned about your condition today via the interweb. It is heartening to read this blog and see that things are gradually improving. I wish you a full and speedy recovery. From Toronto, I have been listening to your music since first hearing the Tall Dwarfs on Tuatara in the mid-80’s and was fortunate to see you perform both solo and as part of the Tall Dwarfs in late 1990 when I visited New Zealand.
    All the best,
    Tim Barlow

Hey Chris!!! You were there egging me on while I got my tattoo as part of Wayne Youle – Where You Stay? for the ‘New Artland’ series – you cracked me up and I was so chuffed to have met you – I cant wait for it to air (Saturday 29th August) – I hope you’ll be able to watch it while I do and have a giggle at all the people squirming in pain!
Thinking of you and your whanau during this trying time.
