Hi – Reading the stats for the blog, we have a fairly steady readership out there – thanks to everyone for your continuing support and interest. I’m hoping one of you can help me (Sam?) – someone wants to do a cover of a song called ‘Badger’ for the album. Which is great, ‘cept we need to get a copy of the song to said artist and not only do I not know the song but I can’t track it down on any discography of Chris’. Can anyone assist?
Thanks
Roy

Don’t know a Chris Know song called Badger, but there’s one on the first disc of The Chills’ Secret Box collection.

The only New Zealand “Badger” song I know of is by the Chills. It’s on the Secret Box.

There’s also the badger song by the Mountain Goats, could Chris have covered that at some live event?

I found this on the Chris Knox and the Nothing Commentboard on Myspace, and wondered if it relates to this, does it ring any bells?
kill a bla bla everyday
they’re so puffy white and bland
shave yourself with badger fur….
shoo lala
that is our favorite song!
xx the mad scene
I haven’t met Chris but have followed his music for a long time and have a lot of the records, it is great to hear about the progress he is making, my best wishes to him and those close to him. Lately I have been particularly enjoying the two “Nothing” Cds and I encourage anyone reading this who hasn’t heard them to buy them, they are a very successful Beatles tribute – but in terms of a great songwriter and a great band totally doing their own material.

Also, there was I think a band (terrible, if memory serves) called Badger in the mid-70s. I could be wrong about this, but I associate an album cover with that name with that period…

I see Artland (fronted by Chris) is being screened again ‘soon’, on Channel 7: http://tvnz.co.nz/new-artland. Many of the episodes also seem to be available online too. Roy, when the viewing schedule comes out this might be worth promoting to your audience via this site.

God,Jonathan r,
That one sounds like something gone wrong in my head!(sadly I do know what that sounds like….) “Mushroom,MUSHROOM” is a reference to the record company,…ain’t it? …”ahem” …ha!?

BADGER was a song, I think, by CREAM (Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker, drums, and the other name is in one of the few braincells I have left but cannot bring it to the front … no doubt the moment I click on submit it will hit me) …. The album is FRESH CREAM Jack? Bruce – Bruce is surname, was the other guy. Hope this helps. I do have the album somewhere though haven’t seen it for years I believe it is one I would never have given away.
