All you need is an ovenglove

Moaning All – Chris turned a torn in two & brown 57 yesterday (despite Paul) & last note there was a gathering of fiends, faminily and even museumusician-types to wish him weller (despite Paul).

Wrongs were wrung, bakes was beaten, pressies were presciented (thanks heaps to Chris Mousdale for organising the Beatles remasticated monotone settee that we’ve pre-cooked at Real Groovy).

His Knoxiness had an irate rhyme of hits – partially enjoying mousing versions of The Monkees’ ‘Getting Older’,  The Clean’s ‘I’m a Believer’ & Badfinger’s ‘I’m So Tired’ (despite Paul).

…. and in the end, the love you make is equal to the cakes you bake (despite Paul)

Kristen Scott Thomas has been cast as Aunt Mimi and I’m sure there is a stern, but kinky, “Happy Birthday” wish in that somewhere! A strong year ahead to you and yours.

    Happy Birthday Chris!

Since hearing about the stroke I’ve been checking in every so often to find out how his recovery is going, and it’s really encouraging to hear the steady improvement. It must be 20-odd years since I first came across Flying Nun and the Tuatara compilation here in the UK – Chris & Alec and their then-labelmates opened my eyes to some amazing music, and I hope it continues.

    Good Luck,

    Owen

    Happy Birthday Chris!

I had the pleasure of meeting you at Real Groovy records in 1992.. I was a big fan of the Toy Love and Tall dwarfs, and you kindly took the time to talk to me when I disturbed your record browsing, and told me about self publishing (My friend and I were doing a fanzine at the time)

I took on board your advice, and when I moved back home to London, I got on with it (Your advice..’just get on with it mate!’..and am now a professional comic book artist.

I never got the chance to thank you for our brief, but influential (For me), exchange. You were such a gentleman, and it meant a lot to me.

You continue to inspire me, and I hope You’re surrounded by the ones you love, and will make a recovery.

We need your music, art, and lovely humour.

With love, from a thankful fan,
    Rufus
