Clarke? Clark?

Filed under: Uncategorized @ 4:20 pm

Hi All – I spent Saturday hanging out with Chris. We watched a film from 1931 called ‘A Free Soul’ with Clark Gable of all people – good fun. Then we were in for a real treat when Graham Reid & Chris Caddick (thanks guys) brought round a promo sampler of the new Beatle remasters – we were very impressed –  brighter sure, cleaner yup, but also more vibrant as if less compressed, by the time we got to ‘I’ve Got A Feeling’ I was a quivering wreck & snapping at anyone who ventured toward the stereo controls (sorry Liesha). It’s hard to read Chris at times but he seemed happy about what he was hearing, and kept holding up 4 fingers which we took to mean 4-out-of-five. Now the awful question of whether to buy the mono or stereo versions ………..  of course it should be mono … but then the way they’ve released them means you don’t get all the albums so you kinda need both sets …… arrgggghhh.

Chris was bright & engaged all weekend although he’s managed to communicate t us that he isn’t sleeping well so we need to sort out some medication for him. He’s starting to dispense with his walking stick for longer periods which is good to see as long as he doesn’t have a fall. In the last two days a few friends have noticed more words coming back to him which is very encouraging, although I gotta say Friday was a bit rough for me as I missed my friend as he used to be.

    Hi,all,

Yeah, looks like the Mono Beatles box is cancelled(or delayed?) in the US! But it is more expensive,…about $75 more. I wonder what happened? Glad Chris got a listen to it,and even more glad to hear the walking is better!

Slow but sure recovery is OK by me,even though fast sure woulda been nice too. God bless,…and keep an eye out for my weird little package of Beatle soundz. It should be a laugh! B

    Ohhh,just a quicky…

I found out that the pre-orders from a month back are the only ones getting the Mono Beatles here in the (bad old) USA! Sneaky bums ,that EMI, not letting everyone know it was soooo limited.

Well, maybe someone will share the White Album Mono with me thru a “burn”? I hope.

Keep fighting on Chris! Love, Barry

Waiting for Outrageous F to begin here..guess it’s the same at your place. Just thought I’d say Hi again – been thinking of you heaps and checking in here regularly. Shame about the ‘cold’..hope it doesn’t hang around.
I’m pleased this Beatles thing has come along…you know all the music so well. I have a special memory of you and Mik singing ‘Rain’ downstairs! in the Cook. I realised just how well you could sing..
    Have a happy day tomorrow.
    Love Lorna x

Hello! Please relay many happy birthday returns to Chris from me. And warn him that Phil and I may be over to visit in a few weeks with our new arrival (when he/she has arrived that is) :)

Just want to say hi to Chris. I’ve been reading this blog regularly and it’s great to hear that he’s making progress and slowly getting back to the things that he’s so talented at.

Been a Knox fan since I was a teenager (40 now!), seen him play on three continents and passed on his good stuff to many people over the years. Keep it up, looking forward to seeing you at your best again.

    Derek
