…. Aunt Mimi shocks world with rampant libido

Hello – Ouch – a bit too much red wine last night. Still …. not too bad.

Today is Barbara’s birthday and, after a bit of prompting, Chris nailed the melody of “Happy Birthday”. It’s a nice tune and, well, Marilyn he ain’t! We had cake and liqueur stuffed dates with tea & coffee. Chris is in a good mood, and although we are learning to be VERY careful about being too optimistic I can’t help feeling that he’s improving.

We’ve got the digital download sorted as you can probably see – thanks very much to Simon & Stephen at Amplifier for settting it up, and to Russell for suggesting it.

We’ve had a few people ask how to stop getting an e-mail with each new comment. There should be a box to tick when you make a comment to de-select this option. I’ll have to find out how to disable that option for those of you that are already hooked in ….. sorry.

Chris has a pope-a-like in the bed beside him. Which is good as I’ve long thought that Chris should work on his spiritual side more and I was hoping that this terrible event would bring him closer to God.

Roy

Very disappointing to see this old hoax about Aunt Mimi and the lodger resurfacing on your website Chris. Time you exerted some editorial control. Everyone knows it was Mother Teresa. And it wasn’t a lodger; it was an altar boy.

    Happy Birthday Barbara!

Chris, we want you to know that we wonder how you are every day and it’s great you and your family and friends are sharing these moments with us.

    Love
    Tracy and Blair, Napier

Just another stranger sending much aroha to Chris and family. I’ve played your music at assembly in a Japanese high school, and even penned my feeble tribute to you in a song of my own. All the best wishes flowing your way.

Wishing Chris and his family the very best. I have recently started listening to Chris’ music, and think it is brilliant.

I was wondering if anyone could provide the lyrics to “Meat”, my favourite song oh his.

    Thanks

Happy Birthday Barbara & best wishes to you and Chris both. And La famille. (Which is French, apparently.) I don’t like the sound of a pope-a-like but I am enjoying listening the copy of A Warm Gun that Chris gave me before I left.

Thanks for posting the links to buy both Nothing albums. Chris, you’re off the hook on those now!

And thanks for the updates. And I’m happy to see all the warm wishes from all over the world.

Chris, you’ve touched a lot of people (and licked a few too!!)…glenn

Hi Chris, here I am visiting a friend in Auckland, and she casually says “I wonder how Chris Knox is doing”. Say what? Not really hooked into the news media – I didn’t even know about swine flu.

Chris, I had the pleasure of meeting you a couple of times over the years. Back in the early 80’s, I was in a rather, err, “deconstructed” band called The Negative Creeps. We had a gig at Knox Hall, and someone had the idea of asking Chris Knox to play… and the balls to do it. So you were our Big Rock Star on the bill. Shows how small-time we were :-)

Anyway, I bullshitted everyone that I knew how to mix sound, and so there I was at the side of the stage, with your ‘axe’ guitar running straight into the desk. Mid-song, I decided that I didn’t like the guitar sound I’d given you, so I gave one of the knobs a massive twist…. and was rewarded with one of the most incredulous Glares I’ve ever seen. That Ben Stiller guy should have used it in his super-model movie. ‘Blue Steel’ was amateur stuff by comparison.

Saw you supporting Billy Bragg at the Powerstation, along with Nick Smith. Sorry I’m not enough of a nerd to remember if the song is called “People Who Govern”, or “People Who Rule”, but I will always remember the intensity with which you aimed it squarely at David Lange up in the VIP section. Absolutely priceless.

The second time I met you was at a tiny gig in a pub at the top of Wakefield Street, I think. Lots of boozy yobbish students, absolutely adoring you. You asked for someone to come up and stamp on the stage for one song. No takers, and I had my work boots on… so up I got, you told me to stamp as loudly as I could, and feeling rather shy in front of the students, I put on my best “I’m not a muso and I am drunker than you” face, and stamped as hard as I could. You asked me to stamp a bit quieter, ya big wuss. Something about wanting to have the voice and guitar audible :-)

Chris, you’re a lovely guy, and not just because you’re a musical legend. You’d be a lovely guy whatever path you’d taken in life. One of nature’s true gentlemen. Get well, please.

All the best to one of the all-round good guys of rock ‘n roll music.
Don’t let frustration get the best of you.
Strength to all your gathered friends and family and many kudos to the people updating this blog.
